Combining the convenience of a microwave oven and the flexibility of an oven on a wall and a built-in microwave and wall oven combination is a great solution for kitchens of all kinds. Browse our selection of combination wall ovens and microwaves to find the ideal one for your home. Be sure to read the cutout specifications and installation guide for your chosen unit to ensure it will work in your space. Our microwave & oven combinations include both oven and microwave models in a variety designs, colors and styles that will match any decor. Look for  small integrated microwave  as simple and easy controls, a power cook function and a built-in self-cleaning feature to cut down on time.

Convenience

A built-in microwave oven combo can free up counter space in your kitchen and give a stylish appearance to your kitchen. Because it functions as a microwave and traditional oven, you can heat up leftovers, frozen meals and pre-packaged meals in one appliance. It can also eliminate the need for an additional countertop appliance or the bulky wall oven that is a stand-alone unit. A microwave-microwave combination can also be a good choice if you want to upgrade your kitchen without undergoing any major renovation projects.

There are microwave ovens that come in a variety of styles to match your kitchen decor. Some microwave oven combos have a swing-out right-to-left door, while others are drop-down models that open the same way as traditional ovens. You can also purchase a microwave-oven combo that opens in a drawer, similar to a cabinet. The microwave drawers are easy to reach and are perfect for small spaces where you need to avoid taking up valuable counter space.

Combination microwaves also come with many features that simplify meal preparation and make it more convenient. For instance, certain models have sensors for steam cycles that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food items to ensure you receive perfect steamed fish and vegetables. Other features include a broil element that lets you quickly melt cheese or brown your favorite dish, as well as Crispwave(tm) technology that can grill or bake food and make it crisp.

Think about how often you'll make use of each feature when choosing a microwave-oven combination. If you'll use the oven more than the microwave, you may prefer an oven that doubles as a wall. A combo oven has less capacity than an individual oven.

After you've picked the ideal microwave and oven combo for your needs, it's time to think about the installation. Over-the-range models can be positioned over the stove or cooktop and connect to an electrical outlet, whereas built-in microwaves are inserted directly into the walls or cabinets of your kitchen. Some models even have trim kits that allow you to effortlessly blend your new microwave with the cabinets in your kitchen.

Energy Efficiency

Built-in microwave oven combos are a great choice for those who have smaller kitchens in their house or apartment. They can save the space which would otherwise be taken by separate appliances, and also help reduce energy consumption. They usually provide a more efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens as they tend to use less energy. They can also be used to cook food or warm dishes. This reduces the necessity for other appliances such as toasters or warming plates.

DOE conducts a variety of analyses when evaluating possible amended energy conservation standards. These include assessments of technology and market, screening analysis, engineering analyses and national impact analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR DOE will use its existing engineering analysis on microwave ovens to determine what degree of efficiency improvements are technologically feasible for this particular product.

In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave against a set of energy performance goals. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of NIA, DOE will assess the impacts on consumers, including the cost savings throughout the lifecycle and simple payback time (PBP). DOE will use its Government Regulatory Impact Model with an adaptation for microwave ovens to calculate industry net present value ("NPV").

DOE will also assess the effects on manufacturers and will use an industry-specific cash flow model adapted to this product type to calculate manufacturing NPV. In addition, DOE will consider the potential impacts on small business manufacturers and other manufacturer subgroups to identify any that could be disproportionately affected by these proposals.

In addition, DOE will consider whether the tests for microwave ovens must be updated to include active mode energy usage and a possible integrated active mode energy use measurement. The current test procedures only address the standby mode power usage.

Design

Microwaves generate heat through the process of causing water molecules to vibrate in food. Wall ovens depend on the circulation of hot air, while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall units blend these two appliances into a single unit, which is ideal for securing space in the kitchen and giving a modern, sleek look. You should carefully consider your budget and goals before deciding on a combination wall oven. A few of the combo wall ovens we have rated have issues with performance or design.
